Malapascua Island is a well sought-after holiday destination in Cebu. This sweet little island boasts long stretch of sandy white beaches, lush exotic trees, mangroves, and rocky cliffs.
For international, as well as local tourists, getting into the island might be a little tricky, as it is set in the northernmost tip of Cebu. In addition, Malapascua is also a separate island from Mainland Cebu. So now, we are giving you a tip on how to get there easily.
Tourists who want to go directly to Malapascua Island from Mactan International Airport can opt to hire tourist vans. However, it might be expensive. So, you can just ride a taxi going to Cebu North Bus Terminal. Likewise, for guests traveling from Cebu City, you can also opt to do the same. When in the CNBT (Cebu north bus terminal), look for Ceres Bus Liners (yellow color) with the route Cebu – Bogo and Maya. Take note: it’s a direct route, so less hassle.
The only port with access to Malapascua Island is called “Maya Port”. Therefore, make sure you ride the correct bus!
Travel time is within 4 to 6 hours.
Boat fare From Maya Port to Malapascua Island costs 100PhP per person. During low tide, there is additional 20PhP fare. Travel time is within 20 minutes. Take note: Maya Port currently has Old and New Port. Both are functional, but you are advised to go directly to the New Maya Port.
When in Malapascua Island, cars are a rarity, if not zero! The only public transportation available are motorcycles or habal2x.
